Benchmarking Workshops
Do you know how your company stacks up against your competition? Take a giant step forward by engaging in an on-site ARC Benchmarking workshop at your company. Our approach is simple. We assist you every step of the way, from getting educated on benchmarking to helping you to interpret your results, or helping you create an action plan to address your specific needs. With ARC’s insight, you can focus on the right parts of your company, be it the physical plant, organization, support services, training, standards, or automation procedures and equipment. We can then help you prioritize your strategies for achieving world class performance.
ARC will customize a half day or full day program to meet the specific needs of your organization. Choose from one of our standard, pre-formatted workshops, or we can jointly design a workshop tailored to your particular requirements and budget. Each workshop includes thought-provoking interactive presentations, group exercises, and a written deliverable to keep for your reference.
Benchmarking 101: Getting Started
This half to full day session is tailored to the organization considering benchmarking. The session will describe the key drivers for benchmarking and examine the benchmarking process. Anecdotal experiences and typical results from other companies will be reviewed from previous benchmarking engagements. You will be ready to begin benchmarking following this workshop. Some of the topics addressed will be:
- How do you start benchmarking?
- What should you benchmark?
- What should you avoid benchmarking?
- What will you do with the results?
- How often should you benchmark?
- How can you get business value from benchmarking?
- How can you ensure you measure and benchmark value metrics to help improve your company’s performance?
Benchmarking 201: Interpreting Benchmarking Results
Pre-requisite: You already have a benchmarking program underway.
Discovering how your plant compares to others is just one step of the bench- marking process. More important is your action plan, or how you interpret results and chart a course for improvement. Determine why a company is considered “best-in-class”. Become more effective by comparing your metrics and processes to those they use, creating targets for improvement, and uncovering steps for implementing change by adopting best practices. The goal is to continuously increase the value of your business by finding the optimum balance between your people, technology, and processes.
ARC will analyze your benchmarking results during this half to full day workshop and propose a course of action. You will obtain a good understanding of how to set your short and long-term direction in order to improve results. The interdependency of different metrics will also be considered to help create the plan that is most optimal for your situation.
Benchmarking and Strategic Technology Planning Workshop: Turning Your Metrics into Best Practices
Pre-requisite: You have a benchmarking program underway and have collected data.
Benchmarking is a journey which requires fine-tuning to stay on course. Targeted at the plant that is already benchmarking, this 2-part workshop will ensure you are continuously improving and getting the most out of your benchmarking investments.
It begins with a half to full day session similar to “Benchmarking 201”, where gaps are analyzed and prioritized, best practices are reviewed, and an action plan is put into place. To establish the best strategy for your plant, ARC will review people, process, and technology issues specific to your company, mapping them to current processes and installed systems. You will decide whether you can benefit from new, leading edge technologies or whether your existing ones can help bridge your gaps. We will teach you steps to develop a plan to address your major gaps.
The second full day workshop, conducted 6-12 months later, will analyze your progress and adjust your original plan, if necessary. You will re-address major gaps and examine processes where you performed closer to the average. Suggestions will be made to help you accelerate performance in these “average” areas in order to become a top performer.
