The company estimated its R&D investment for power T&D has been more than $10 billion over the last decade. Furthermore, ABB has miles-deep knowledge of key technologies that enable the smart grid, especially power semiconductors, grid automation technologies, and grid communication standards. Many ABB products are used within other systems in areas, like wind power generation, where the ABB content and brand is hidden from view.
