Raman has close to four decades of varied experience in Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL). As General Manager in charge of Project Engineering Management, he was responsible for providing system engineering inputs for power plants of various ratings up to 800 MW. Prior to superannuation he shouldered the dual responsibility of Executive Director of Electronics Division (EDN) and Industrial Systems Group (ISG). As Executive Director-EDN, Raman was responsible for automation and power electronics products, mostly related to power and solar photovoltaic. During his tenure at EDN, EDN / BHEL became the market leader in the field of automation in India. Raman was also responsible for the introduction of several new technologies and products at the Electronics Division. As Executive Director-ISG, Raman was responsible for EPC of coal handling, ash handling, and automation for the steel sector. He has been a team leader and builder; at BHEL he led a team of 5,000 personnel.
Raman’s work and commitment to excellence has won recognition at the national and international levels. He has received various prestigious awards, such as ICWA Cost Management Award, CII Business Excellence, and Quality Control (QC) Awards. Raman is a senior member in IEEE and ISA. He is a gold medalist in Electrical Engineering (B.E.) from Madras University.
