Transformational Technologies for Industrial Growth - Panel Discussion at ARC Orlando Forum

Keywords: Business Intelligence, Collaboration, Communication, Forum, IT, Panel, Transformational Technologies, Server Virtualization, 3D Virtual Models.

ARC Advisory Group's 2012 World Industry Forum at the Renaissance SeaWorld Hotel in Orlando, Florida, from February 6-9, attracted over 650 delegates from more than 254 companies. The Forum provided a venue for participants to network and share information.

The Forum's second general session on February 8, prior to the track proceedings, covered how companies approach transformational technologies. Greg Gorbach, VP ARC Advisory Group, summarizing the previous day's proceedings, said that transformational technologies, such as Big Data, analytics, cloud computing and server virtualization, mobile devices, mobile internet, social technologies, and 3D virtual models have arrived on the scene, dramatically altering the way companies conduct business. These transformational technologies are converging - the smart phone can link to the Cloud to run powerful analytics tools and the results can be publicized globally via social technologies.

The main question is: should manufacturers ignore or follow this trend? For traditionally conservative companies, doing so goes against the very grain of their thinking and traditional practice of keeping data closely guarded.
