Automation Suppliers Collaborate to Help Establish Best Practices for Improving Industrial Energy Efficiency

Industry, the major energy consumer in the US, constitutes around 30 percent of the nation's total energy consumption. While energy consumption affects the profitability of industrial companies, it also affects the environment due to greenhouse gas emissions and pollution. Not surprisingly, energy management was a hot topic for discussion by suppliers and end users alike at ARC Advisory Group's recent 2012 World Industry Forum in Orlando.
In one Forum energy management session, the deliberations highlighted that increasing energy cost has become a major pain point for most manu-facturers today. A major challenge confronting manufacturers is to develop effective energy management strategies to improve efficiency. ARC believes that advanced automation and control technologies can help companies to improve industrial efficiency. Manufacturers should take advantage of government incentives and resources and work with organizations such as the Industrial Energy Efficiency Coalition (IEEC), a coalition of many of the leading global automation suppliers, to enhance their energy efficiency.
