India's Initiatives in Cyber Security

Keywords: Cyber Security, Cloud, Crime, Mobility, Virtual Space.

In an inter-connected world, the dependence on virtual space (cyberspace) transcends the physical environment and geographies. Virtual space encompasses cloud computing, mobility, and social media. Cyberspace provides a platform to precipitate a bloodless war, potentially creating global chaos. Hence, cyberspace security is of utmost importance, requiring the forging of effective partnerships between government organizations and those that manage the use of this space: government departments, banks, infrastructure, manufacturing, service enterprises, and individuals.

The NASSCOM Data Security Council of India (DSCI) organized its 7th NASSCOM–DSCI Annual Information Security Summit at the Taj Lands End Mumbai, December 11-12, 2012. This two-day forum, supported by over 35 organizations, was one of India's biggest annual events on information security. It attracted over 350 attendees from the government, industry, solution providers, and user community from around the world.
