Enterprise Software Market Growth Accelerates in Fourth Quarter 2012
Keywords: Enterprise Software, Quarterly Supplier Revenues, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Middle East & Africa, Latin America, North America.
The worldwide enterprise software market accelerated its year-over-year growth in the fourth quarter of 2012. Strong performance in Asia and growth from acquisitions were the major contributors to overall growth. Meanwhile, weakness in Europe and new software licenses inhibited growth. The euro depreciated relative to the dollar by less than 4 percent from Q4 2011 to Q4 2012. This moderation in the declining value of the euro provided support to market growth, as measured in dollars.
The suppliers included in this report recorded combined quarterly revenue of $24.2 billion, representing a 6.3 percent year-over-year growth rate. The year-over-year change in supplier revenues ranged from a reduction of 9.1 percent to growth of 22.4 percent. Combined software and product revenues grew at about 6.7 percent, indicating healthy service revenue growth in the near future. Five suppliers, American Software (Logility), EMC, Manhattan Associates, PTC, and QAD reported year-over-year decreases in software or product revenues.
