Director of Research
Peter is Director of Research for Electric Power & Smart Grid, on the Energy Sector team at ARC. He analyzes the latest trends across People, Process, and Technology to uncover business and digital transformation best practices for electric, gas, and water utilities.
Peter has a long history of working closely with utility industry executives and decision-makers across major utility lines of business and functional areas, along with equipment manufacturers, software vendors, and other solution providers and stakeholders, with an eye toward best practices for optimizing the current and future value utilities deliver to industrial, commercial, residential, transportation, and other segments.
Peter began his utility industry career as an engineer at Con Edison of New York, in the mid-1980s, and has been a utility industry analyst and consultant for the last twenty years, providing strategic technology and product marketing consulting services to major software and equipment vendors in the energy and utility industries, along with other asset-intensive markets.
In the 1990s, Peter’s focus was on ROI-driven sales and marketing for Honeywell and Texas Instruments for transmission and distribution (T&D) and other electrical equipment, metallurgical materials, and semiconductor industry reliability testing equipment. During the next two decades, he worked for enterprise asset management (EAM) software vendors in utilities and other asset-intensive industrial markets. Responsibilities included sales, marketing, product management, and strategic consulting.
Peter is a widely published author in numerous trade press and frequent presenter at utility industry conferences. His expertise spans across generation, transmission, distribution, and smart grid and renewables-related technologies, with a strong focus on ROI- and strategic marketing- driven concerns.
Most recently, prior to ARC, for five years Peter was Principal Strategy Consultant at McDonnell Group, an Atlanta, GA, based utility and energy industry consulting firm. He also served as Senior Editor at Transmission & Distribution World. Peter also provided trend analysis and thought leadership for the utility industry at Meridian Cooperative (formerly Southeastern Data Cooperative).
