Effective Distributed Work Support and Remote Access for Industrial Operations—The July Digital Transformation Council Monthly Member Meeting
Despite the necessary advances made this past year, implementing—and, more importantly, sustaining—effective distributed work support and access is still a major challenge. The benefits of lower costs, speed of problem solving, and improved resource allocation have been balanced by the challenges unique to virtual work: skill gaps in collaboration, change management and system-access risks, information overload and on-site apathy, and propensity for error and rework.
In this month’s DTC meeting, we’ll explore the challenges and opportunities of implementing distributed work support and remote access, from thinking through greenfield construction to supporting existing plants and infrastructure. A panel, moderated by ARC Vice President Mike Guilfoyle, will discuss a range of remote workforce challenges, including the role of intelligent plant construction and workflow design in minimizing in-operation work issues, dealing with digital troubleshooting and just-in-time information delivery, and implementing best practices for remote access to people, equipment, and systems.
