OASIS announced that MQTT Version 3.1.1 from the OASIS Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) TC has been approved by the membership as an OASIS Standard.
The call to vote was announced on 15 October 2014 and closed 29 October 2014. A minimum of 45 affirmative votes were needed in order to win approval. The finally vote tally was 65 with no negative votes.
TC Administration will now prepare and publish the final OASIS Standard and notify members when it is available.
MQTT is a Client Server publish/subscribe messaging transport protocol. It is light weight, open, simple, and designed so as to be easy to implement. These characteristics make it ideal for use in many situations, including constrained environments, such as for communication in Machine to Machine (M2M) and Internet of Things (IoT) contexts where a small code footprint is required and/or network bandwidth is at a premium. The protocol runs over TCP/IP, or over other network protocols that provide ordered, lossless, bi-directional connections.
