Zack Valdez, Ph.D., is Senior Director of Industry & Regulatory Affairs at the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), where he leads member engagement at the intersection of smart manufacturing, interoperability, cybersecurity, and industrial policy. He works with manufacturers, standards bodies, and government partners to accelerate adoption of secure, interoperable industrial systems that improve productivity, resilience, and energy performance across the factory floor. Previously, Zack served in senior roles at the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Department of Commerce, and as a Science & Technology Advisor to the U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, advancing programs and policy on domestic manufacturing, supply chains, and technology deployment.
