The semiconductor manufacturing process has long seen front end wafer fabrication as more advanced in adopting state-of-the-art technologies, methodologies, and processes compared to the backend activities of assembly, package, test. This is driven by Moore's Law (doubling of transistors on a chip every two years), necessitating continuous advancements in wafer production. However, backend manufacturing does not follow the same exponential growth pattern and, due to the slower rate of change in product technology, has traditionally relied on equipment suppliers to provide solutions, resulting in vendor-centric or process-specific approaches. This presentation will propose unconventional methods for qualifying new products and revolutionizing the manufacturing landscape through the use of artificial intelligence.
