Dr. Yaser P. Fallah, is a professor at UCF and an expert in AI, autonomous vehicles, robotic system perception and decision making and software system design. He is the director of the Robotics and Autonomous Systems graduate program at UCF. Dr. Fallah has over 17 years of experience in autonomous systems, transportation/vehicle safety, connectivity, and cooperative perception, collaborating with Ford, GM, Hyundai, Toyota, and Honda. He is the inventor of the scalability algorithms for connected vehicles, adopted in SAE standards. His pioneering work in cooperative AI is the basis for a new wave of research in collaborative perception for autonomous vehicles. He is also an entrepreneur and the co-founder of Currus AI, a smart city AI company headquartered in Orlando. He earned his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of British Columbia in 2007 and has started his career in Intelligent Transportation Systems at the University of California-Berkeley (2008-2011) as a research scientist. He is a recipient of the NSF CAREER award (2016) and the UCF Luminary Award in 2022, where he is a professor of electrical and computer engineering.
