ARC Industrial Pacesetters

Honoring Industrial Innovation, Transformation, and Operational Excellence

For four decades, ARC Advisory Group has helped the world's leading industrial organizations identify best practices, benchmark performance, and navigate waves of technological change. Through our research, Pacesetter Surveys, AI Readiness Assessments, and industry benchmarking initiatives, ARC has identified the characteristics that consistently distinguish industry leaders from their peers.

Built upon this foundation, the ARC Industrial Pacesetters program recognizes industrial end user organizations that have successfully transformed their operations through the innovative application of technology, leadership, and best practices. The program highlights companies and project teams that exemplify the traits of industry leadership through operational excellence, digital transformation, industrial AI, workforce innovation, sustainability, and measurable business impact.

The ARC Industrial Pacesetter Awards honor the transformative projects and the people behind them who are shaping the future of industry. Each year, selected organizations and teams are recognized as ARC Industrial Pacesetters at ARC Industry Leadership Forums around the world, providing independent validation of their achievements and a platform to share their success with industry peers.

What Makes a Pacesetter?

ARC research has consistently found that leading industrial organizations share a common set of characteristics that enable superior performance and long-term competitiveness. These characteristics include:

  • Strategic Leadership & Vision
  • Operational Excellence
  • Technology Innovation
  • Workforce Enablement
  • Scalability & Adaptability
  • Resilience & Sustainability
  • Measurable Business Impact

The ARC Industrial Pacesetters program recognizes organizations that demonstrate this "Pacesetter DNA" through real-world implementations and measurable results.

Built on ARC's Proven Pacesetter Methodology

For many years, ARC has helped industrial organizations benchmark their performance, assess technology readiness, and identify best practices through its Pacesetter Surveys and assessment frameworks.

The ARC Industrial Pacesetters program extends this proven methodology by recognizing organizations whose projects and initiatives demonstrate the characteristics commonly found among top-performing industrial companies.

Rather than focusing solely on technology deployments, ARC evaluates how organizations combine leadership, innovation, workforce engagement, operational excellence, and measurable business outcomes to achieve lasting competitive advantage.

The result is a recognition program grounded in proven research, benchmarking, and real-world operational excellence.

Recognition Categories

ARC accepts nominations across a range of industrial innovation categories. Depending on the mix of qualified submissions received, finalists and winners may be selected in some or all categories, and multiple awards may be presented by industry or region where appropriate.

Who Can Participate?

Eligible Organizations

Only end user operating companies are eligible to receive awards.

Technology solution providers may nominate a limited number of client organizations but are not eligible to win their own internal deployments.

Project Requirements

Projects must be fully deployed in at least one production facility for a minimum of 6 months.

Applicants must demonstrate a roadmap for enterprise-wide scalability.

Verifiable baseline and post-implementation KPIs are required.

Nomination and Selection Process

Step 1: Nomination

Self-nominations are accepted from end user operating organizations. Third-party nominations may be submitted by technology providers, system integrators, or ARC analysts. Nominations consist of a brief 500-word summary outlining the project, the challenge addressed, and the high-level impact achieved.

Step 2: Full Application

Accepted nominees will be invited to complete a detailed application that includes operational KPIs, architecture information where appropriate, and a short testimonial or video from plant or operations leadership.

Step 3: ARC Analyst Review

Shortlisted applicants will participate in a private review session with ARC analysts to present their implementation journey and realized outcomes. Final evaluations are conducted by a closed panel of ARC Senior Leadership.

Step 4: Awards Presentation

Finalists are recognized at the ARC Industry Leadership Forum, and winners receive a physical ARC Industrial Pacesetter Award suitable for display.

ARC Pacesetter Assessment Framework

The ARC Industrial Pacesetter Awards recognize industrial organizations that have successfully transformed their operations through technology, innovation, and leadership.

The evaluation framework is informed by insights derived from ARC's Pacesetter Surveys, AI Readiness Assessments, Best Practice Surveys, and industrial benchmarking research. This enables ARC analysts to evaluate nominations not only on their individual merits but also against the characteristics consistently demonstrated by industry leaders.

Successful submissions demonstrate not only technical excellence, but also meaningful operational impact, organizational adoption, and sustainable business value.  ARC evaluates nominations across the following dimensions:

  • Business Impact – Demonstrated improvements in business performance, operational effectiveness, or strategic outcomes.
  • Innovation & Leadership – The organization's ability to apply new ideas, technologies, and leadership practices to address critical challenges.
  • Scalability – The extent to which the initiative can be expanded, replicated, and sustained over time.
  • Technology Excellence – Effective use of technology to enable new capabilities, improve decision-making, and drive performance improvements.
  • Workforce & Organizational Transformation – Improvements in workforce effectiveness, collaboration, skills development, and change adoption.
  • Sustainability, Governance & Resilience – Contributions to environmental stewardship, cybersecurity, risk management, operational resilience, and responsible governance.

Organizations are encouraged to demonstrate measurable results in one or more of the following areas:

  • Operational Performance – Productivity, throughput, cycle time, asset utilization, or overall operational efficiency.
  • Financial Impact – Cost reductions, profitability improvements, return on investment, or revenue growth.
  • Reliability & Resilience – Improved asset performance, reduced downtime, enhanced supply chain resilience, or increased operational availability.
  • Workforce Performance – Safety improvements, workforce productivity, skills development, employee engagement, or knowledge transfer.
  • Sustainability & Resource Efficiency – Energy efficiency, emissions reduction, waste reduction, water conservation, or other sustainability outcomes.

This framework enables ARC to identify organizations that are not only implementing innovative technologies but also delivering measurable and sustainable business value that can serve as a model for the broader industrial community.
