Oracle Buys NetSuite

Oracle announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire NetSuite, the very first cloud company. The transaction is valued at $109.00 per share in cash, or approximately $9.3 billion.

The evaluation and negotiation of the transaction was led by a Special Committee of Oracle's Board of Directors consisting solely of independent directors. The Special Committee unanimously approved the transaction on behalf of Oracle and its Board of Directors.

Cisco and NI Introduce Early Access Technology Platform for Time Sensitive Networking (TSN)

National Instruments (NI), the provider of platform-based systems that enable engineers and scientists to solve the world's greatest engineering challenges, announced an early access technology platform for Time Sensitive Networking (TSN). In coordination with Cisco and Intel, NI is looking to empower customers to build distributed systems that perform synchronized I/O, code execution, and deterministic communication for distributed control and measurement loops, all using standard Ethernet.

Emerson announced an agreement to sell Network Power to Platinum Equity and a group of co-investors. The transaction is valued at $4 billion, and Emerson will retain a subordinated interest in Network Power. The sale of Network Power is expected to close by December 31, 2016, subject to customary regulatory approvals.

Siemens Strengthens Footprint in Additive Manufacturing with Acquisition of Materials Solutions Ltd.

Siemens has acquired a majority stake (85 percent) in Materials Solutions Ltd., one of the world leaders in Additive Manufacturing (AM) processing and production. The remaining 15 percent is being held by Carl Brancher, the founder of the company. In August 2015, Siemens Venture Capital acquired a minority stake (14 percent) in the company that currently employs more than 20 highly qualified engineers. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

Nidec to Acquire Emerson Electric’s Motors, Drives and Electric Power Generation Businesses

Nidec Corporation announced that it entered into an asset and stock purchase agreement with Emerson Electric Co. on August 2, 2016, to acquire the motors, drives and electric power generation businesses of Emerson. The purchase price is US$1,200 million (on a cash and debt-free enterprise value basis), and the consolidation will be all cash. Major acquirees and locations included in this transaction are; Leroy-Somer Holding (France), Control Techniques Limited (UK), Emerson Industrial Automation USA LLC (USA), Kato Engineering Inc.

Yokogawa Invests in Silicon Valley-based Fog Computing Startup - Strengthening Value Creation Through IIoT

Yokogawa Electric Corporation announces that it has invested in FogHorn Systems, Inc., a Silicon Valley startup that is a leading developer of fog computing technology.
