IBM Cloud IoT Platform to Deliver New Device Management, Risk Management and Analytics Capabilities; New IoT Service for Electronics

IBM announced an expansion of its Internet of Things (IoT) platform – called IBM IoT Foundation - through an integration with ARM, providing out of the box connectivity with ARM mbed-enabled devices to analytics services. This fusion will allow huge quantities of data from devices, such as industrial appliances, weather sensors, and wearable monitoring devices to be gathered, analyzed, and acted upon.

Pepperl+Fuchs, a world leader in process automation and applications, has acquired MACTek Corporation, a leading provider of HART protocol devices. The move is part of Pepperl+Fuchs' strategy to further extend its integrated solutions offerings and strengthen its position in the WirelessHART market.

Fives recently finalized the acquisition of the Bryant Grinder's technology and intellectual property, expanding its expertise to the design and manufacture of high-precision/high-production inner-outer diameter grinders. Fives will also provide aftermarket services for the existing installed base.

Infor announced it has entered into an agreement to acquire GT Nexus, the world's largest cloud-based global commerce platform, for $675 million. The deal is expected to close within 45 days, pending regulatory approval.
