Weatherford International announced the release of the ForeSite production optimization platform. The ForeSite platform combines physics-based models with advanced data analytics to improve performance across wells, reservoirs and surface facilities.

Weatherford announced the commercial release of the WFX0 gravel-pack system, and according to the company, the WFX0 system is the industry’s first fully-integrated gravel-pack system to achieve an API/ISO V0 rating, which validates that it has been tested to the industry’s highest standards with zero gas leakage. By leveraging several V0-rated Weatherford technologies, the system enables gravel-pack completion of multiple open-hole zones in a single trip and provides reliable, gas-tight zonal isolation in deepwater wells.

Emerson Automation Solutions has introduced its Roxar salinity measurement system, which it claims provides accurate and real-time measurement of saline water in gas production well streams.

Operators can use the equipment to quickly identify changes in the flow stream and the smallest amounts of saline water. This allows them to take immediate remedial action to prevent scaling, hydrate formation, and corrosion.

Emergence of formation water and its associated salinity, if not controlled, can lead to well shutdowns and cost millions of dollars in unplanned shutdown time.

Schlumberger has launched the new SpectraSphere fluid mapping-while-drilling service at the 2017 Offshore Technology Conference.
