Partnership to help support scalable microgrid deployment and community energy resilience.
American Microgrid Solutions is expanding its partnership with Schneider Electric to support more scalable deployment of resilient microgrid systems for critical facilities and communities.

As power reliability becomes a greater concern for communities, public agencies, and critical facilities, microgrids are gaining attention as a way to support resilience, energy security, and operational continuity. American Microgrid Solutions (AMS), a microgrid development firm that delivers onsite advanced power systems, has expanded its strategic partnership with Schneider Electric to accelerate the deployment of resilient distributed energy resources across multiple sectors, including healthcare, utilities, multi-family housing, state and local government, and advanced manufacturing.
The partnership combines AMS’ development, delivery, and operations platform with Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure Microgrid technology suite, including EcoStruxure Microgrid Flex. EcoStruxure Microgrid Flex provides a validated, modular architecture designed to help accelerate microgrid delivery from design through commissioning and support repeatable deployments at scale.
Through the expanded partnership, AMS will deploy lifecycle capabilities, including design, delivery, commissioning, and long-term operation. This approach is intended to help simplify microgrid adoption while strengthening resilience and operational performance for communities and businesses that need reliable onsite power.
The expanded partnership also helps to bring technical, financial, and operational planning into the early stages of microgrid development. AMS and Schneider Electric will support feasibility studies, resilience assessments, business case development, pro forma modeling, and financing structures. This is intended to help customers evaluate project viability earlier, reduce investment risk, and move projects more efficiently from concept to deployment.
A case study of a project that shows how this partnership is being applied is Hillandale Gateway, a mixed-use development in Montgomery County, Maryland, The project includes residential and retail space, community amenities, and a resilience hub, along with high performance building standards. AMS designed and is developing the site’s solar and battery microgrid using Schneider Electrics EcoStruxure Microgrid Flex to support daily operations and help maintain critical services during grid disruptions.
The Hillandale Gateway microgrid has been configured to prioritize the most critical loads as battery charge declines during an outage. This helps to support power availability for the resilience hub and age-restricted residential buildings when backup power is most needed. The project is also expected to generate more than $150,000 in annual savings and offset about 600 metric tons of CO₂ each year.
Hillandale Gateway Microgrid: Key Project Details
The project uses a 1.1 MW rooftop solar system paired with a 375 kW / 860 kWh battery system.
The microgrid is designed to support income- and age-restricted housing, along with a full-building resilience hub.
During outages, battery set points prioritize critical loads as available charge declines.
The system is expected to provide at least 24 hours of resilience support, with typical support extending beyond 72 hours.
The project is expected to offset about 600 metric tons of CO₂ per year.
By combining onsite generation, battery storage, and load prioritization, the Hillandale Gateway project illustrates how microgrids can support everyday energy performance while also providing backup power for critical community services during extended outages.
