Baker Hughes, a GE company, announced the launch of its new approach to subsea development: Subsea Connect, including its Aptara TOTEX-lite subsea system, a suite of new lightweight modular technologies designed for the full subsea oilfield lifecycle. By combining planning and risk management, new modular deepwater technology, partnerships and digital tools into a single offering, Subsea Connect is designed to help to reduce the economic development point of subsea projects by a BHGE estimated average of 30 percent and has the potential to unlock an additional 16 billion barrels of reserves globally, also according to BHGE estimates.
With its fullstream portfolio and ability to help make better connections across the development process, BHGE, based on its estimates, is positioned to influence approximately 80 percent of the costs associated with offshore projects. This provides an opportunity to help to lower operators’ CAPEX and OPEX requirements and to help transform unsanctioned projects into more commercially-viable ones.
Subsea Connect is a combination of four key solutions:
- Project Connect: The company's independent workflow begins with targeted project outcomes, offering customers more independent and flexible project assessment and management. The Project Connect approach helps to eliminate project recycle, reduce cost and project overruns, and increase speed to final investment decision (FID). BHGE’s breadth and depth of capability across the value chain helps to enable earlier engagement at the concept evaluation phase and greater collaboration, which can help to transform project economics.
- Reservoir to Topsides Technology Solutions: The company's full-stream capability covers many aspects of a development, from the reservoir to the topside. This extends beyond the subsea scope and includes reservoir management, field development, well construction, topside optimization and subsea engineering. BHGE’s Aptara TOTEX-lite subsea system includes a lightweight compact tree, modular compact manifold, composite flexible risers, SFX wellhead solution, modular compact pump and subsea connection systems. These technologies are designed to be more modular, structured, and compact, and be more responsive to changing conditions across the subsea oilfield lifecycle, helping to cut total cost of ownership by up to 50 percent according to BHGE estimates.
- Flexible Partnerships and Commercial Models: The company's partnership model is designed to be more flexible and leverage relationships with more efficient, established partners to better meet customers’ needs and help improve project economics. BHGE’s commercial solutions, aligned with customer priorities, helps to unlock additional value.
- Digital Enablement: The company is layering critical technologies with next-generation digital solutions to help to drive greater uptime and enhance productivity. BHGE’s engageSubsea asset lifecycle management solution is an example, designed to better optimize the planning, execution, and connectivity of subsea projects, resulting in more enhanced execution and remote management of asset maintenance. engageSubsea is estimated by BHGE to drive up to a 20 percent reduction in maintenance costs, and up to a 5 percent reduction in downtime through predictive analytics.
