Rosemount 3051S High Static Differential Pressure Transmitter Provides Reliable Flow Measurement in High Pressure Applications
Emerson Process Management introduced the Rosemount 3051S High Static Differential Pressure Transmitter, a reliable solution for critical process measurements in applications requiring high static pressure capability of up to 15,000 psi (1034 bar).
As processing applications increasingly operate in conditions with extreme pressures and temperatures, operators must vigilantly monitor equipment integrity and stability in order to prevent failures, safety hazards and decreased production. In industries such as offshore and onshore oil and gas and power generation where pressures can exceed 10,000 psi, it is critical that instrumentation be robust enough to provide accurate measurements on a consistent basis.
Emerson's Rosemount 3051S high-pressure transmitter technology and all-welded, stainless steel design is custom-engineered to withstand extremely high static pressures. The SuperModule platform and coplanar design reduce potential leak points by 50 percent compared to traditional designs, ensuring the highest differential pressure measurement accuracy, field reliability and safety. Moreover, the hermetically sealed SuperModule isolates the pressure sensor and electronics from harsh process and environmental conditions to optimize performance and reliability over the life of the transmitter, and is backed by a 15-year warranty.
Traditional instrumentation used for high pressure service is large and bulky and can double or triple the footprint and weight of a typical measurement point. The Rosemount 3051S High Static Pressure Transmitter's lightweight design and compact coplanar platform weighs 60 percent less than traditional transmitters; on a typical platform using 300-500 traditional pressure transmitters, the 3051S can help oil and gas companies reduce weight by hundreds of pounds/kilograms topside. The coplanar Rosemount 3051S High Static Pressure transmitter also integrates additional hardware such as integral manifolds into a single assembly, further reducing weight and lowering overall installation and instrumentation costs.
New Fisher 8590 Butterfly Valve Combines Cost Savings with High-Performance In Meeting a Wide Variety of Process Application Needs
Emerson Process Management introduced the Fisher 8590 high-performance butterfly valve that brings a selection of disk seals, actuator designs and material combinations to meeting plant-wide throttling and on-off requirements.
Utilizing a lugged body design across the CL600 size range of NPS3 – NPS24, the 8590 can incorporate a splined shaft that accepts either a spring-and-diaphragm or pneumatic piston actuator. It is also available with either a square or keyed shaft that combines with handlevers, handwheels, or pneumatic piston actuators.
The pressure-assisted design of the 8590 disk seals provides tight shutoff and permits the use of smaller, less expensive actuators in meeting full ASME B16.34 shutoff capabilities.
The 8590 offers true bidirectional shutoff, which means that torque necessary to open and close the valve remains constant regardless of the differential pressure across the disk. Slam-shut conditions are not created as the disk nears its seat, which extends seal life and avoids actuator and piping damage.
Besides shutoff given by the choice of elastomer and metal disk seals, the optional ENVIRO-SEAL packing system combines with the valve's micro-smooth shaft surface to keep emissions below 100 parts per million (PPM). Yet another extreme 8590 capability involves sour liquids and gases, with trim and bolting materials available to comply with NACE MR0175-2002, NACE MR0175-2003, MR0103, and MR0175/ISO 15156.
With a CL600 rating per ASME B16.34, the valve's face-to-face dimensions meet EN558, API609, MSS-SP68, and ASME B16.10 standards. The valve body self-centers on the line flange bolts as a fast, accurate means of centering the valve in the pipeline.
Roxar subsea Wetgas Meter Helps Protect Subsea Well and Pipeline Integrity and Supports Metering/Allocation Strategies In Challenging Gas and Gas Condensate Fields
Emerson Process Management has launched its next generation Roxar subsea Wetgas Meter for accurate production measurement, reduced risk, and improved flow assurance in gas and gas condensate fields.
Hydrates, corrosion, scaling and water coning in the reservoir represent the biggest challenges to offshore gas producers and are all caused by formation water breakthrough into the well. The new meter allows the earliest possible detection of water from gas wells. The new meter reportedly comes with unparalleled water sensitivity, accuracy and rapid response together with the industry's first built-in salinity measurement system.
The meter's microwave-based measurements and multivariate analysis functionality are operational in all field conditions and fluid compositions. The meter detects changes in water content of the flowing well at as little as 0.2 ppm (parts per million) - sensitivity that has never been reached before and that represents less than a droplet of water finely distributed in a volume equal to that of four car fuel tanks.
The next generation Roxar subsea Wetgas Meter generates an uncertainty specification of ±0.02% abs WVF (Water Volume Fraction) at GVF (Gas Void Fraction) 99-100%. Other key benefits to operators include:
- Improved hydrocarbon and allocation metering strategies. The wet gas meter provides real-time, accurate hydrocarbon measurement for operators' fiscal allocation obligations. This is due to the meter's multivariate analysis functionality and true three-phase measurement based on a highly accurate microwave and gamma densitomer. The multivariate analysis functionality also provides PVT (Pressure, Volume, Temperature) independence on water fractions - especially in high GVF flows.
- Accurate salinity and formation water measurement. The new meter includes the industry's first dedicated online salinity measurement system that tells the reservoir engineer whether formation water is entering the flow. Combined with highly sensitive and accurate water measurement, this provides a powerful and unique tool for the early detection of formation water breakthrough and the optimization of injection rates for MEG, scale and corrosion inhibitors.
- Maximum speeds, flexibility and robustness for all reservoir conditions. The meter is ideally suited for the changing operating conditions and varying fluid compositions seen in gas and gas condensate fields. Measurement speeds at 20 times per second enable immediate actions to be taken to protect subsea system integrity and maintain flow assurance.
Micro Motion F100P and HPC010P Coriolis flowmeters to Measure Accurate Flow Rates for Wellbore Chemicals Injected at High Pressure Conditions
Emerson Process Management introduced the Micro Motion F100P and HPC010P Coriolis flowmeters to measure accurate flow rates for wellbore chemicals injected at high pressure conditions. Both meters are designed for demanding offshore applications that require robust performance with low maintenance needs. These meters will allow operators to confidently monitor chemical injection to ensure long term asset reliability and flow assurance.
The F100P is a 1-inch meter with a maximum pressure rating of 6250 psi (431 bar) that targets measurement for higher flow rates typical for hydrate inhibitors. The HPC010P is the first ultra-high pressure Coriolis meter developed by Emerson, and will have a maximum operating pressure of 15,000 psi (1034 bar) to address offshore chemical injection measurement for chemicals such as corrosion, scale and asphaltene inhibitors.
These flowmeters will be available starting late 2015 and are the newest addition to Emerson's chemical injection solution capabilities, which include Tescom flow control technology, Micro Motion mass flowmeters, and Rosemount pressure and temperature transmitters.
Inderpreet Shoker, ARC Advisory Group, commented, "The new flowmeters will help owner-operators and service companies overcome many challenges of chemical injection applications and reduce chemical costs while increasing operational efficiency and system reliability."
