Schneider Electric announced a new solution to support the increasing demand for home electrification while reducing the need for more expensive and complex electrical service upgrades. The Smart Power Manager, a new feature in the Square D QO Smart Panel Solution, will be available this summer and is designed to provide smarter energy management for homes.
As more homeowners transition to electric appliances, including induction cooktops, heat pumps, and electric vehicles, residential energy consumption is rising by an estimated 15 to 20 percent. Many homes exceed their current capacity, typically requiring an electrical service upgrade from 200 amp to 400 amp service, which can add significant expenses. Smart Power Manager offers a software-based alternative, allowing homebuilders to help meet these energy demands while maintaining existing service levels.
This new feature automatically sheds controllable loads, helping to ensure energy usage stays within the home’s capacity limits. By integrating Smart Power Manager into their projects, homebuilders can support larger electrical loads without exceeding a standard 200-amp electrical service.

The QO Smart Panel Solution is designed to integrate with standard home electrical systems, using the Square D™ QO™ Plug-on Neutral panel, Square D™ Control Relays, and Schneider Energy Monitor. It offers circuit-level control and system-wide energy monitoring to support energy efficiency.
