Siemens’ Meet at the Machine initiative connects engineering, simulation, automation, and machine operations to help manufacturers prepare for production before machine delivery.

Siemens has launched Meet at the Machine, a new initiative that brings together machine builders, software, and automation technologies to address manufacturing challenges through integrated machining solutions. TRAK Machine Tools is the first partner participating in the initiative.

The initiative is designed to connect engineering, programming, virtual validation, and machine execution through a continuous digital thread. The first phase focuses on enabling part manufacturers to begin production preparation before a new machine is delivered, helping reduce the time between machine installation and productive operation.

Key Elements of Meet at the Machine

The initiative is intended to:

Connecting Engineering and Machine Operations

Manufacturers continue to face challenges related to increasing production complexity, workforce shortages, and the integration of software and automation technologies into production workflows. Meet at the Machine is intended to address these issues by combining engineering software, automation hardware, and machine expertise within a connected workflow.

The approach allows manufacturers to program, simulate, and validate production while a machine is still being built. Traditionally, many programming, validation, and training activities begin after installation. Moving these activities earlier in the process can help manufacturers prepare for production before physical machine delivery and reduce ramp-up time.

Siemens also positions the initiative as a way to improve the flow of data across the part manufacturing lifecycle. By linking engineering, programming, virtual validation, and execution, manufacturers can create greater continuity between production planning and machine operations.

TRAK Machine Tools Joins as First Partner

TRAK Machine Tools is the first machine builder participating in the initiative. The first phase focuses on helping part manufacturers prepare for production before their machines arrive.

The collaboration combines Siemens software and automation capabilities with TRAK Machine Tools’ machine expertise. The resulting workflow enables manufacturers to program, simulate, and validate manufacturing processes while the physical machine is still under construction.

Siemens says the approach can reduce ramp-up time by up to 50 percent.

Expanding the Collaboration Model

Siemens plans to work with additional machine builders to develop future solutions under the Meet at the Machine initiative. The broader objective is to address manufacturing challenges by bringing software, automation, and machine expertise together earlier in the production lifecycle.
