Tata Consultancy Services, a leading IT services, consulting, and business solutions firm, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to pursue technology research collaboration with the University of New South Wales (UNSW). The agreement was signed by Ananth Krishnan, Chief Technology Officer, TCS, and Professor Brian Boyle, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Enterprise, UNSW, at the TCS Asia-Pacific Summit in Sydney. The agreement will enable the university and TCS to work together in areas of common interest, such as machine learning, virtual reality, robotics, data analytics and cloud computing. The MOU also opens the prospect of exchanges of scholars and internships for UNSW students at TCS's global research facilities.
UNSW's Professor Boyle said that working with TCS will build on UNSW's strong international links and help accelerate innovation by opening up new opportunities around the world. Ananth Krishnan, Chief Technology Officer, TCS, said that the company is delighted to form an alliance with UNSW and further deepen its ties with the Australian academic research community. He went on to say that forming academic alliances is all about bringing technology breakthroughs to life. Working collaboratively can help take promising ideas which stem from pure technology research and give them real-world applications.
TCS has formed alliances with major academic institutions worldwide to encourage new developments in the area of research. The academic alliance program is part of the company's Co-Innovation Network (COIN), which provides an environment for co-operative IT research in leading-edge technologies across multiple sectors.
