New UTAdvanced Series Controllers
Yokogawa Electric Corporation announced a number of new UTAdvanced series controllers. The new controllers include four DIN rail mounting type controllers and one 1/8 DIN panel type program controller. This is part of Yokogawa's ongoing effort to expand its controller business by satisfying market needs and giving customers a greater range of choices.
UTAdvanced series controllers are mounted on furnaces and other types of heat process-related industrial facilities for the measurement, display, and control of operating variables such as temperature, pressure, and flow rate.
In recent years, it has become more common for equipment manufacturers to integrate the setting, manipulation, and display functions of programmable logic controllers (PLC) and other embedded control devices on touch panels and other types of user interfaces, and to mount the hardware on DIN rails inside panel boxes. There is an increasing need for such DIN rail mounting type controllers. The UTAdvanced series controllers come in two sizes: 1/4 DIN and 1/8 DIN.
Product Features:
(1) DIN rail mounting type controllers
New UT55A, UT52A, UT35A, and UT32A DIN rail mounting type controllers are now available. They all comply with the global DIN standard and thus can be easily mounted in panel boxes.
(2) 1/8 DIN panel type controllers
With its 1/8 DIN product line-up, Yokogawa provides its customers a variety of space-saving options to choose from.
- 1/8 DIN panel mounted program controller - Compact in size, the new 1/8 DIN UP32A panel type program controller can control based on patterns that are preset along the time axis (program-pattern control).
- 1/8 DIN dual-loop controller - The cost-effective and space-saving dual-loop 1/8 DIN UT32A-D controller can carry out the functions of two controllers.
- Non-isolated remote input option for UT32A - A new optional function is available for the UT32A that allows a target setpoint value to be remotely set via a signal from another instrument (UT32A/RSP).
- Economy-type temperature controllers - For customers who prefer a simple and cost-effective temperature controller design, the UT32A-R, UT32A-V, and UT32A-C single-output temperature controllers are now available. In contrast to conventional models that come with relay, voltage pulse, and current outputs, these new economy-type temperature controllers have just one output.
Major target markets include companies that design and manufacture machinery, air conditioning systems, power equipment, and other items for use in industries such as electrical equipment, machinery, chemicals, foods, semiconductors, and automobiles.
Tunable Diode Laser Spectrometer Improved Reliability and Operability
Yokogawa Electric Corporation also announced that it will release the TDLS8000 tunable diode laser spectrometer on May 7. This new product can quickly make in-situ measurements of gas concentrations in combustion and heating processes that are employed in the oil, petrochemical, electric power, iron and steel, and other industries.
Companies are always looking for ways to optimize processes by saving energy, reducing CO2 emissions, and improving safety and one way to do this is by optimizing the air-fuel ratio in the combustion process. To accomplish this, sensors are needed that can continuously monitor the concentration of O2 and CO+CH4 in the radiant section of fired heaters.
Since the predecessor model TDLS200 was released by Yokogawa in 2008, its high accuracy and precision have earned it a good reputation in the marketplace. The laser gas analyzer is capable of quickly performing in-situ measurements of the concentration of near-infrared absorbing gases such as O2, CO, CO2, and NH3. The TDLS8000 is being introduced as the successor to the TDLS200 to satisfy the need for improved operability and to allow for greater adaptability in difficult applications.
Product Features:
Highly reliable measurement
The TDLS8000's laser module includes a newly developed reference cell board that improves the reliability of absorption peak detection, which is an important step in the spectral area method. In addition, the receiving unit employs a new auto gain function that can automatically optimize detection sensitivity depending on the measurement object. By increasing the signal-to-noise ratio (S/N ratio), this improves the reliability of measurements taken in coal combustion and other processes where there is high particulate loading. Designed to meet the requirements for SIL2 certification (certification pending) defined by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), the TDLS8000 will play a key support role in ensuring the safe operation of plants.
Improved operability and maintenance efficiency
The TDLS8000 comes with a large 7.5-inch LCD touch screen that can display a greater variety of data. The touch screen replaces the push button interface used with preceding models, making the setting of parameters easier and more intuitive. The light source module containing the laser diode is fully sealed and damage resistant. To facilitate troubleshooting and reduce downtime, this module is able to store up to 50 days' worth of raw data that can be accessed anywhere in the world by, for example, a Yokogawa response center.
Compact size
The redesigned TDLS8000 is just three-quarters the size and weight of the preceding model, allowing it to be installed in a greater variety of locations.
The TDLS8000 is expected to be certified to the IECEx, ATEX (Europe), FM (U.S.), cFM (Canada), and TIIS (Japan) explosion-proof standards. It will be suitable for installation in hazardous areas that required the use of an explosion-proof enclosure.
Major target markets include industries, such as oil and gas, petrochemicals, chemicals, electric power, iron and steel, and ceramics for such applications as measurement of O2 concentration in fired heaters for improved safety and lifecycle management, measurement of CO concentration during combustion process, measurement of amount of moisture in hydrocarbons and corrosive gases, and measurement of ammonia concentration for leak detection during DeNox process.
