Around the world, owner/operators are facing one common challenge: mounting shareholder pressures to improve profits. To keep up with the changing business dynamics, owner/operators need to excel in various different areas. When it comes to maintaining their assets, they want to ensure asset availability, safety, and reliability, to maximize asset life. Owner/operators are paying even more attention to asset management as they are realizing its role in improving profitability and as a means to achieve business goals.
At the recent International Maintenance Conference, or IMC, organized by Reliabilityweb.com, asset management and how it prioritizes business objectives was a core topic of discussion. The event held in Marco Island, Florida, December 6-8, is a leading event for asset management professionals. Every year the conference attracts leading reliability, maintenance, and asset management professionals from around the world to share their knowledge, ideas, and challenges. The conference is co-located with the RELIABILITY 4.0 Digital Transformation Conference.
Recognizing Industry Leaders
Every year at the conference, the Uptime Awards recognize and honor forward-looking owner/operators that are creating a better and safer world through their excellent reliability, maintenance, and asset management programs. These winners are an inspiration as well as a resource for others in the community and industry. The winners were able to share their experience and story with the audience by participating in various different sessions during the conference. For 2022, winners included Saudi Aramco Berri GAS Plant for Best Reliability Engineering for Maintenance Program, Central Contra Costa Sanitary District for Best Work Execution Management Program, United Utilities for Best Leadership for Reliability Program, Palm Beach County Water Utilities Department for Best Asset Management Program, and Medtronic for Best Overall Program.
Next Step in Asset Management
A key segment of the keynote session is Reliability and Asset Performance (RAP) Talks where asset management leaders get on stage to share their visions of asset health and asset performance management.
Allen Turner from International Paper and Sean Gregerson from AVEVA highlighted how modern advanced analytics technology can empower asset management professionals. Owner/operators can make informed maintenance decisions by leveraging operational and asset data to determine ideal times for repairs, replacements, and upgrades. This reduces operating costs and downtime, enabling more sustainable and efficient operations.
Craig Fridley and Mike Blakey from Anheuser-Busch InBev joined Tim Dykstra from Boston Dynamics for a conversation and shared how Anheuser-Busch is leveraging Boston Dynamics’ robot Spot for maintenance operations.
