Siemens has released its next generation of SIMATIC IT Unilab Laboratory information management system (LIMS), offering flexibility and configurability for the management of all laboratory data. The system can be used on any PC, but is also available on tablets and remote workstations, as it is fully web-based and accessible through any web browser, thus eliminating the need for a complex application rollout. This approach makes Unilab users mobile, true to Siemens’ aim to offer integrated solutions for paperless manufacturing.

No special training will be needed to utilize the full force of the LIMS. On tablets it allows for touch operation giving intuitive access to the information and enables easy data entry. Furthermore, the user can do most of the configuration of the environment himself.
As a core module of the SIMATIC IT R&D Suite, Unilab is designed to help bridging the gap between the lab and production. It closely interacts with Formula Workbench for formula management and electronic lab notebook (ELN) tools.
