GALAXY VXL UPS AND NVIDIA-OPTIMIZED REFERENCE DESIGN ADDRESS ENERGY AND SUSTAINABILITY CHALLENGES OF HIGH-DENSITY AI SYSTEMS

Schneider Electric has announced two new solutions designed to help meet the demands of AI-ready infrastructure. The Galaxy VXL UPS, a compact, high-density power protection system, and a new NVIDIA-optimized GB200 NVL72 reference design helps to address the growing energy and sustainability challenges of AI workloads.

Next-Generation Energy Efficiency for AI Systems

With AI workloads rapidly increasing, the energy demands of high-density infrastructure pose critical challenges. Schneider Electric’s Galaxy VXL UPS offers a more scalable, modular, and compact power solution, providing up to an estimated 99% efficiency and reducing carbon emissions by a factor of two. Meanwhile, the GB200 NVL72 reference design, co-developed with NVIDIA, delivers a validated liquid-cooled architecture optimized for high-performance computing systems, supporting up to 132 kW per rack.

Key Features of Galaxy VXL UPS

  • High Power Density: Up to 1.25 MW in a single frame, with a scalable design allowing for up to 5 MW in parallel configurations.

  • Space Efficiency: Up to 52 percent smaller footprint than many industry averages, with front-access-only maintenance.

  • Enhanced Sustainability: Patented technologies achieve up to an estimated 99 percent efficiency in eConversion mode and minimize raw material usage, packaging, and carbon emissions.

  • Advanced Reliability: Modular design supports N+1 redundancy, increasing system availability and allowing pay-as-you-grow flexibility.

  • Integration and Compatibility: Supports both Lithium-ion and VRLA batteries, with live swap functionality for greater uptime and serviceability.

NVIDIA-Optimized GB200 NVL72 Reference Design

The new reference design, co-developed with NVIDIA, helps to simplify the deployment of liquid-cooled AI clusters while enhancing sustainability and efficiency. The design incorporates more advanced tools for customization, helping data centers to better optimize for high-density applications with reduced environmental impact.

Unified Vision for AI-Ready Data Centers

Both solutions are integral to Schneider Electric’s end-to-end AI-ready infrastructure strategy, which focuses on developing energy-efficient systems, deploying advanced infrastructure, and offering tailored sustainability consulting services. By addressing challenges across the energy spectrum ranging from power generation to cooling systems, these solutions help to enable data center operators to support AI workloads more sustainably and effectively.

According to Craig Resnick, Vice President, ARC Advisory Group, “These new solutions designed for AI-ready, sustainable data centers, position Schneider Electric well to help users leverage a key technology in their data centers, AI, which is at the same time driving the rapid growth and demand for data centers globally. This combined with the use of NVIDIA-optimized reference designs and the latest in liquid cooling technologies will help to future proof these data center solutions for users”.
