GE Vernova and AWS Expand Collaboration to Address Global Energy Demand

GE Vernova and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have signed a strategic framework agreement to help support AWS’s data center scaling while addressing increasing global energy demand, enhancing grid security and reliability, and advancing the decarbonization of electric power systems.

Through this collaboration:

• GE Vernova will provide AWS with electrification technologies and consulting services to help power AWS data centers across North America, Europe, and Asia.

• AWS will support GE Vernova’s cloud migration and digital innovation efforts, including the adoption of generative AI, to help enhance operational efficiency and sustainability.

• Both companies will work together to optimize energy solutions and explore new technologies that help to improve power generation, grid security, and decarbonization.

GE Vernova’s Contributions to AWS

GE Vernova will provide AWS with solutions to electrify and decarbonize data centers across multiple regions. These efforts include:

• Electrification Systems – Delivering turnkey substation solutions that connect AWS data centers to the grid, expanding major electrical equipment, and providing project management and construction support. GE Vernova and AWS will collaborate to help optimize substation design and delivery.

• Renewables – Exploring pathways to help support the commercialization of onshore wind development projects.

• Power Generation, Innovation, and Services – Providing AWS with power generation equipment and services while leveraging GE Vernova’s experience in advanced research, consulting services, and financial services to help drive energy transition innovation, research, project development, and financing.

AWS’s Support for GE Vernova

Under this agreement, AWS will enable GE Vernova to help advance its cloud migration and digital innovation initiatives. This includes:

• High-Performance Computing (HPC) and Generative AI – Using AWS cloud solutions to help enhance GE Vernova’s systems, accelerate development cycles, and optimize advanced digital technology solutions.

• Operational Optimization – Supporting GE Vernova’s transformation as a standalone public company by embedding additional sustainability and innovation into its core operations.

• Electrification Software – Continuing collaboration with GE Vernova’s Electrification Software business to help support AWS Cloud deployments for the electric grid, power generation, and manufacturing industries.

Ongoing Collaboration

GE Vernova has previously worked with AWS to support cloud deployments of software solutions for electric utilities, energy organizations, manufacturers, and other industrial businesses. Several of GE Vernova’s software solutions, including applications within its GridOS® orchestration software portfolio and Asset Performance Management, are hosted in the AWS Cloud.

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
