This release outlines how the One Digital Grid Platform is designed to help support modernization, improve operational efficiency, and provide greater visibility across utility networks.

Schneider Electric introduced it's One Digital Grid Platform, a modular platform that integrates planning, operations and asset management to help support utilities seeking to modernize without extensive infrastructure replacement. The platform provides a coordinated environment for managing distributed energy resources, operational decision-making, and grid reliability while helping to support digital workflows across varied utility environments.

The platform builds on Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure ADMS, DERMS, and ArcFM capabilities, and uses AI to help with outage response, network modeling and operational efficiency.

Key capabilities include:

  • Integrated management of operational, asset and planning workflows.

  • AI-enabled features to help assist restoration estimation and network diagnostics.

  • Tools support distributed energy integration and resilience.

  • Hybrid-cloud deployment options to help meet cybersecurity and data requirements.

The One Digital Grid platform provides new AI-enabled functions to help improve outage response and operational decision-making. These capabilities use grid data, system conditions and historical patterns to help estimate restoration times, align digital models with field conditions and support real-time operator workflows.

These functions include:

  • Estimated Time of Restoration, based on operational data, weather inputs and field conditions.

  • Grid AI Assistant, for real-time operational support across ADMS workflows.

  • AI-based network model tuning, to help improve accuracy between digital models and physical infrastructure.

As energy demand continues to increase due to electrification, renewable integration, and high-performance computing, utilities face growing pressure to expand capacity and avoid reliability constraints. Modeling from Schneider Electric’s Sustainability Research Institute indicates that the US may need between 1,000 and 2,000 terawatt hours of additional electricity per decade, driven by industrial growth and digital infrastructure needs. The platform is designed to help support the planning and operational strategies required to accommodate this scale of demand, including localized generation, efficiency measures, and improved network visibility.

Financial and performance findings associated with deployments of Schneider Electric’s advanced distribution management technologies indicate a reported 16-month payback period, measured reductions in outage-related penalties and reduced operator workload. Utilities reported improvements, such as faster issue resolution, reduced downtime, and time savings across control-room operations.

The platform is designed to help support utilities seeking to reduce system silos, improve coordination across distributed assets and strengthen resilience against operational and environmental pressures. By offering a unified dataset and flexible deployment architecture, the platform helps to support modernization strategies across diverse grid environments.

The One Digital Grid Platform is designed to reflect Schneider Electric’s broader focus on digital infrastructure, data-driven planning and unified operational platforms that helps utilities to address long-term energy, capacity, and reliability requirements.
