Schneider Electric Software, a global leader in industrial software and part of Schneider Electric, a global specialist in energy management and automation, announced the release of Wonderware Operations Integration (OI) Servers. The new servers help to increase connectivity across the enterprise, from the data layer through the business and ERP layers, to support a cloud-ready communications strategy.

Wonderware OI Servers are a part of Schneider Electric Software's IIoT connectivity strategy. The new inherent architecture of OI Servers allows integration of a growing number of devices, suited for use in Smart Cities and geographically distributed industries, as well as integration between currently disparate systems on a global scale.

With the advent of the Internet of Things and Industry 4.0, not only is the number of embedded devices used for Machine to Machine data exchange increasing, but demand for machine functionality is also rising, including demand for interoperability, the ability to exchange data with cloud-based systems, and user friendly local configuration and maintenance. Rather than an isolated set of units, these devices must become an integral part of the overall automation system, extending to the supply chain.

Building on Wonderware's open plant philosophy, the OI release continues support for the major PAC and PLC brands, such as Allen-Bradley, GE, Modbus, and Siemens, and expands support to Automation Direct, CoDeSys (Bosch, 3S, Eaton, WAGO), Beckhoff, BACnet, Mitsubishi, and Opto 22. This is the first step in a series of sequenced releases supporting new protocols and functionality.

The new OI Servers are designed to help increase throughput and scalability, eliminate single points of failure, maximize communications uptime, provide integrated support of multiple OI Server versions on a single node, and co-exist with Wonderware DAServers and DI Objects on a single node.
