Last night, I watched the Hindi movie Copy, a thought-provoking story in which humanoid robots begin replacing real-life partners and companions. While the film is clearly science fiction, it left me wondering: are we moving toward a future where humanoid robots become so intelligent and human-like that they can fill emotional, social, and practical roles traditionally occupied by people?

Although the article focuses on manufacturing and logistics rather than personal relationships, the parallels between fiction and reality are striking.

Watching Copy and then reading ARC's Why Humanoids? Why Now? highlighted the fascinating intersection between fiction and reality. The movie explores the emotional and societal consequences of humanoid replacement, while the ARC blog explains the technological and economic forces making humanoid robots viable today.
The gap between the two remains enormous. Today's humanoids are learning to move boxes, inspect equipment, and navigate warehouses. Tomorrow's may assist the elderly, collaborate with workers, or teach children. The distant future imagined by Copy: where robots become indistinguishable from human partners, remains speculative.
But for the first time, it feels less like pure fantasy and more like a question society may eventually need to answer.
