At their user conference 2016 in Budapest Hungary, Yokogawa announced a new Analyzer System Integration (ASI) center for Europe, located in Madrid. Analyzer systems can have an important impact on product quality control, throughput and yield optimization as well as process safety and HSE. The upfront investment for analyzers may be small to process control systems in some cases, but represent an increasing fraction of the instrumentation and automation budget in the process industries. However, the OPEX of analyzer systems can be important. End users told ARC that the life cycle cost of process analytical technology, including maintenance and modernization account for an important share of the sum of CAPEX and OPEX for a process plant. All the more the reason to design process analytical systems well, and maintain them efficiently.
The ASI center in Madrid is conveniently located to receive customers and auditors next to the Madrid airport. The center complements two other centers, located in Asia (Singapore and Malaysia) and in the USA (Texas). In contrast to the former two, the European center is laid out to primarily support brownfield installations, which are typical for the European industrial assets. Furthermore, the center is particularly targeted at the hydrocarbon processing industries, aligning with Yokogawa's industry focus.
The key to a successful analytical application is the design, and Yokogawa also considers this a key factor for success. Alongside the quality of the technical components, design quality defines the precision, stability, repeatability and maintainability of the system. Yokogawa ASI-Europe designs analyzer systems in close cooperation with their customers, and can take overall project responsibility for turnkey solutions including Yokogawa and third party components. The center's repair and maintenance capabilities could represent an alternative to in-house maintenance, and may bring cost savings for owner-operators, especially for analyzer systems designed, built and commissioned by Yokogawa.
