The Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC) and the Automotive Edge Computing Consortium (AECC) announced the organizations have agreed to a liaison partnership to work together to advance their shared interests.  Under the agreement, the IIC and the AECC will define architectural principles to prevent fragmentation, harmonizing various aspects of the industrial internet for the automotive industry.

Joint activities between the IIC and the AECC will include:

  • Identifying and sharing best practices
  • Realizing interoperability by harmonizing architecture and other elements, including APIs
  • Collaborating on proposals for standardization to other SDOs
  • Synergies from respective marketing activities
  • Information exchange and joint seminars

The IIC Liaison Working Group is the gateway for formal relationships with standards and open-source organizations, consortia, alliances, certification and testing bodies and government entities/agencies.  The agreement with the AECC is one of a number of agreements made by the IIC’s Liaison Working Group.

The AECC Liaison Steering Committee is dedicated to advancing cooperation with technology associations and Standards Development Organizations (SDOs) to share connected vehicle ecosystem insights and collaborate on best practices.
