SPS IPC Drives 2016 Focuses on the Links Between Operational and Information Technologies

The 28th annual SPS IPC Drives show in Nuremberg, Germany closed its gates at the end of November with the expected high numbers of visitors and exhibitors.  The continued success of the show is due to its clear focus on discrete automation and the high quality of visitors.  SPS remains the main autumn event for industrial suppliers, balancing the Hanover Industrial Fair in the spring.  For many smaller automation suppliers, it has become the primary trade show.

ARC Sees Continued Weakness in Q3 2016 Automation Supplier Revenues

Automation suppliers saw their revenues drop by 6 percent during the third quarter of 2016.  Depressed oil and commodity prices and, to a lesser extent, the strong dollar, continued to rein in the performance of the automation market.  Process suppliers continue to suffer most from exposure to low oil prices.  Discrete automation suppliers fared better, thanks to stronger investment activity in the electronics and automotive industries.  Suppliers expect this trend to continue for the foreseeable future, with hybrid and discrete industries outperforming the heavy process
