Update on Smart Manufacturing in China

In May 2015, the Chinese government formally announced its "Made in China 2025" strategy. Since then, this has emerged as a major focus and a daily topic of discussion across the country's entire manufacturing community as well as among officials at all levels of government. Government and industry have also organized numerous seminars and workshops related to implementing smart manufacturing to help the Made in China 2025 strategy succeed. All this activity has significantly increased interest in technologies for smart manufacturing.

Advanced Industrial Analytics

At every turn, the industrial space is becoming much more dynamic. More than ever, manufacturers and other industrial organizations must quickly adapt and respond as markets, technologies, ecosystems, and competitors change. They need to recognize or, ideally, anticipate rapidly changing situations and to take appropriate measures in time to make a difference. Feeling the pressure, almost every division, every department, every cost center, and every aspect of manufacturing now seeks more and better information.

Blue Globe to Green Earth the 5R Way: NTPC GETS 2016 Powers a Sustainable Future

ARC Advisory Group participated in NTPC's third edition of Global Energy Technology Summit (GETS) 2016, titled "Redefining Power Generation Landscape - The 5R Way." The theme of this three-day Summit (November 7-9, 2016) hosted in New Delhi is in line with India's ratification of the United Nation's Paris Agreement on climate change. The 5R concept:

Haptics Increase the Effectiveness of Augmented- and Virtual Reality-Based Trainers

Simulation and/or virtual reality have proven to be highly effective approaches for training our workforce to operate complex, high-value systems. Today's latest simulators use technology borrowed from the gaming and movie industries to create highly effective, lifelike training experiences in a safe, offline environment. This minimizes both safety risks and concerns about losing high-value product due to operator error.

The Value of Reference Models in a Technology Strategy

Model Definition
The term "model" may be one of the most overused words in technical (and other) documents. Yet it is not clear that the term has a precise definition or that everyone who uses it means the same thing. Even adding an adjective does not always clear up the ambiguity. However, this ambiguity does not detract from the usefulness that models can play to convey important concepts.

Embedded Systems: The Intelligence in Smart Connected IoT Ecosystems

Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) solutions have been emerging at a much faster rate than initially forecast. This is related to the digital transformation of industry, business, and society at large. Digital transformation increases the amount of data generated and communicated by several orders of magnitude. One of the sources of data expected to grow significantly is from embedded intelligence; the smart component of connected IoT ecosystems.
