Siemens has added a range of new modules and functions to the Simatic S7-1200 Basic Controllers. One of the new products, the Energy Meter module SM1238, precisely records energy flows. In addition, the Basic Controllers have also been enhanced with the new CPU 1212FC for failsafe applications in the lower power range. Firmware for the Simatic S7-1200 Basic Controllers has been updated with the latest version of the TIA Portal V14 engineering framework and expanded to include additional functions.

Emerson Process Management introduces Rosemount X-well Technology, a surface sensing temperature measurement solution that eliminates the need for thermowell process penetration when measuring process temperatures in pipe applications. This solution provides an accurate and repeatable internal process temperature measurement, while eliminating possible leak points and simplifying specification, installation and maintenance.

Yokogawa Electric Corporation announces the February 29 release of version R3.30 of its Plant Resource Manager (PRM) software tool for the centralized management of large amounts of data from plant monitoring and control devices and manufacturing equipment. PRM R3.30 is an upgrade to R3.20 and includes an improved management function for HART and enhancements to the navigation function. With this new PRM version, Yokogawa aims to capture a larger share of the plant maintenance market.
