Siemens has announced plans to build an open cloud platform for analyzing large datasets in industry. This will provide a platform for data-based services such as Siemens offers for predictive maintenance, asset and energy data management. Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) can also create their own applications to exploit the open infrastructure for data analytics. For example, data can be analyzed to optimize operation of the OEM's machinery fleets (Platform as a Service). The new cloud platform will use the technologies of the SAP HANA Cloud Platform.

Rockwell Automation has introduced its new holistic serialization solution to help manufacturers comply with Anti-Counterfeiting Regulatory Compliance regulations. Proliferation of dangerous counterfeit medication is a global concern. Impending regulations across markets will require pharmaceutical, medical device, and consumer packaged goods manufacturers to trace products down to the individual saleable unit across the supply chain.  The new offering can help strengthen supply chains and help produce business benefits beyond compliance.

Emerson Process Management introduces the Rosemount 705 Wireless Totalizing Transmitter for installation on new or existing turbine meters or pulse devices to deliver average flow and totalized flow volume over time.
