Mentor Graphics Corporation announced its next release of the Mentor Embedded Nucleus real-time operating system (RTOS) targeting applications for connected embedded devices. The Nucleus RTOS process model for ARM Cortex-M-based cores is expanded to provide application Dynamic Linking and Loading (DLL) capabilities for devices. Internet of Things (IoT) endpoints based on Cortex-M cores with the Nucleus RTOS and process model technology can now be reconfigured, updated, and/or provisioned using cloud-based services to utilize remote software services.

Emerson Process Management, a business of St. Louis-based Emerson, unveiled Energy Advisor, a real-time energy management information system that automates the process of monitoring and managing energy consumption across mills, plants, and refineries. With real-time, meaningful information about a site's energy performance, process manufacturers can identify inefficiencies and irregularities and take corrective action, saving on average 5 to 10 percent in energy costs annually.

Rockwell Automation introduced its new OptiSIS solution, designed to provide industrial operators with a pre-engineered safety instrumented system that can help ease deployment and reduce lead times for small and midsized process applications. The OptiSIS solution is suited for oil and gas, chemical and petrochemical producers with aging process-safety systems that are either noncompliant or can no longer be maintained.

New UTAdvanced Series Controllers
Yokogawa Electric Corporation announced a number of new UTAdvanced series controllers. The new controllers include four DIN rail mounting type controllers and one 1/8 DIN panel type program controller. This is part of Yokogawa's ongoing effort to expand its controller business by satisfying market needs and giving customers a greater range of choices.

Schneider Electric, a global specialist in energy management and automation, today announced its new Modicon M580 Ethernet programmable automation controller (ePAC). The newest addition to the Modicon family of controllers features hot standby functionality (HSBY) and native Ethernet and embedded cybersecurity in its core.  The company's first PAC built for the Industrial Internet of Things, the M580 ePAC enables preferred integration to PlantStruxure, Schneider Electric's integrated automation architecture.

Rockwell Automation announced the release of the FactoryTalk Historian Machine Edition (ME) v3.5 module, enabling off-chassis data collection from a modular historian. This release allows operators using Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and CompactLogix controllers to collect data from controllers and devices connected via the Ethernet network.
