IBM announced an expansion of its global cloud network with a new cloud center in Mumbai, India and a new suite of cloud services for OpenStack. The Mumbai center further expands IBM's global cloud footprint, which includes centers in London, Amsterdam, Beijing, Hong Kong, Singapore, Melbourne, Toronto, and Dallas, and Raleigh, North Carolina opened this year, as well as the soon to be opened Paris cloud center, the latest in IBM's $1.2 billion investment in Cloud Centers in every major market worldwide.

Schlumberger announced the release of Invizion Evaluation well integrity service, which helps operators evaluate zonal isolation by using integrated drilling, cementing and well logging data.

The Invizion Evaluation service uses real-time and post-job data to help identify zonal isolation issues that could impact well integrity. To perform well, pad or field analysis, petrotechnical experts can evaluate drilling surface parameters, formation rock properties, cement barrier placement, and cased hole cement evaluation logs.

In-process control (IPC) checks are essential in the highly regulated life sciences industry. However, manually conducting IPC checks can introduce human error, while standalone IPC systems are difficult to integrate with electronic batch records. Rockwell Automation has added new recipe modeling capabilities to its Rockwell Software PharmaSuite v6.0 manufacturing execution system (MES) to help streamline these crucial activities into the larger production and packaging processes.

Kepware Technologies, a software development company focused on communications for automation, announced the release of KEPServerEX version 5.16. The release features the new Industrial Data Forwarder (IDF) for Splunk Plug-In, Local Historian Plug-In, and IEC 60870-5 Suite that expand Kepware's offerings for the Power, Manufacturing, and Oil & Gas industries.

Matrikon announced the release of the Matrikon Industrial UA Modbus Gateway, housed in a small form factor gateway that provides secure, powerful and broad connectivity to access data from RTU's, PLCs or any other devices that use the Mobus data protocol.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Gujarat Government and Siemens India to establish 6 centers of excellence (COE) in six engineering colleges to provide higher education facilities in various engineering disciplines. Similar MoUs had been signed with them for five COEs in the past.

Moog Animatics' new Class 6 SmartMotors have a new powerful processor that operates at nearly twice the processor speed of Class 5. The PID rate is fixed at 62.5u seconds with 64K User program memory (twice that of prior SmartMotors) and larger Cam point memory space for cam tables to >3K points. These SmartMotors are able to support Standard Industrial Ethernet protocols including: EtherCAT and PROFINET, and they are able to support both standard and high pole count commutation.

MicroSeismic has released PermIndex, a proprietary microseismic-based permeability tool to maximize recovery. PermIndex provides permeability estimates for each frac stage and data-driven constraints to reservoir simulation to help operators improve production forecasting and estimated ultimate recovery (EUR).
