OASIS announced that MQTT Version 3.1.1 from the OASIS Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) TC has been approved by the membership as an OASIS Standard.

The call to vote was announced on 15 October 2014 and closed 29 October 2014. A minimum of 45 affirmative votes were needed in order to win approval. The finally vote tally was 65 with no negative votes.

TC Administration will now prepare and publish the final OASIS Standard and notify members when it is available.

According to the company press release, a new safe torque off option within the Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 7000 medium-voltage drive from Rockwell Automation helps industrial manufacturers and equipment builders simplify their functional safety design and meet the demands of international safety standards. Safe torque off technology allows users to reliably remove power from the motor without removing power to the drive, enabling a faster re-start of the system after a safe state is reached.

AVEVA announced the expansion of customer trials of their 3D design software in the cloud, after its debut at the AVEVA World Summit 2014 in Berlin. AVEVA Everything3D (AVEVA E3D) was demonstrated running in the cloud and generated a lot of interest.

Yokogawa Electric Corporation announced the development of the Smartdac+ GM data acquisition system, and will be releasing it to the market on November 17. The Smartdac+ GM data acquisition system improves operational efficiency due to its modular design, which facilitates the mounting and removal of modules. In addition, the Smartdac+ GM system supports Bluetooth wireless communications for use with handheld mobile devices.

AVEVA announced the launch of its latest software solution: AVEVA Control of Work. This advanced suite of products reportedly enables the highest levels of safety and efficiency to be achieved when planning and performing both routine maintenance and in-plant engineering operations in potentially hazardous plant environments. It comprises best-in-class applications for Risk Assessment, Work Permit Management, Work Activity Plotting, Isolation Planning, Safe Job Analysis and Lessons Learned Reporting.

At the Internet of Things World Forum (IoTWF), Cisco outlined an expansion of its fog computing strategy with the second phase of its IOx platform for industrial scale IoT deployments. Cisco outlined increasing industry ecosystem partner momentum and new hardened IoT platform support, and introduced its IOx Application Management Module.

Yokogawa Electric Corporation announced that it has developed a new low-power version of the DPharp EJA-E series differential pressure/pressure transmitter and will release this product in all markets other than Japan and Europe on December 15. The European release will follow in 2015. This new low-power product outputs both 1 to 5 V DC and HART signals and has been developed to meet the specific requirements of oil and gas exploration and production (upstream) applications.

Baker Hughes has released its MultiNode all-electric intelligent well system, which allows operators to remotely monitor and control a greater number of production zones in both cased and openhole completions. The MultiNode system improves initial production rates and ultimate recovery by combating early water and gas breakthrough and actively balancing flow in production zones.
