ABB Robotics has launched OmniCore EyeMotion, software that enables any OmniCore-powered robot to recognize its surroundings using a third-party camera or sensor and adapt in real time to perform complex applications. ABB positions EyeMotion as a major milestone in its journey toward “Autonomous Versatile Robotics,” a generation of robots that autonomously plan and perform complex tasks in real time without the need for human intervention.
The ABB OmniCore is a robotics control platform designed to integrate hardware and software components for industrial automation systems. It represents a unified architecture for controlling a wide range of robots and associated peripheral equipment. The EyeMotion product release expands upon this platform to give ABB robots the ability to see and dynamically adapt to their environment.
The software is engineered for ease of use and streamlined deployment and can be accessed through a simple web interface. It is fully integrated into ABB’s software suite, standing alongside RobotStudio, the company’s robot programming and simulation tool.
OmniCore EyeMotion targets a range of robot tasks, from item sorting to quality inspection, across industry verticals such as automotive and electronics manufacturing, logistics, packaging, and food and beverage. To support more advanced applications, the software can be combined with ABB’s Automatic Path Planning Online, which can plan and execute paths around obstacles and moving objects in real time.
ABB plans to showcase OmniCore EyeMotion at the 25th China International Industry Fair (CIIF), Shanghai, September 23–27, 2025.
