At the ACHEMA 2015 trade show the organisations NAMUR, ARC Advisory Group and ZVEI will host their joint forum "Automation in Dialogue". On all five exhibition days a range of talks will cover the major themes of automation technology in the process industry in a variety of different formats.
Modular automation and decentralised intelligence
The user conference 2014 of the Namur association was organised under the motto "decentralised intelligence". One of the main topics of discussion was the engineering efforts needed to integrate modular units into the automation system. The central question was: "how can engineering systems support the choice between centralised and decentralised.
Manufacturers of modular units (package units) will need to discuss with end-users and producers of engineering systems how to structure the monitoring and control of the decentralised units in a centralised system. Modular units need to be designed for easy implementation into existing central control systems with reduced engineering efforts. To avoid a duplication of efforts, a common semantics for data exchange needs to be agreed upon in order to facilitate the easy automation of decentralised multi-vendor products.
In addition to high-profile panel discussions, visitors can acquire up-to-date information on selected topics in "Meet the Experts" and then join the experts for an informal discussion in the foyer afterwards. The spotlight will not only be on hot topics, such as Modular Automation, IT Security, and Energy and Resource Efficiency, but also on the latest developments in Industry 4.0 and IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things). Additionally, the more traditional topics like Asset Information Management, Explosion Protection and Functional Safety will be addressed.
"Automation in Dialogue" will take place daily in the foyer of the ACHEMA Automation World from 15th to 19th of June 2015 in Hall 11, Level 1, Foyer Northwest.
