Several ARC personnel will be at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Industrial Control Systems Joint Working Group meeting next week in Pittsburgh at the Omni William Penn Hotel. ARC Vice President and cybersecurity domain expert Sid Snitkin will be presenting at the meeting on Thursday morning. Here’s an abstract of his presentation:

The ICS cybersecurity community has done a good job of developing standards and guidelines for the protection of plants and SCADA systems. To make progress we have rightfully defined a specific set of use cases and scope boundaries. But recent events and new developments show that these assumptions are too restrictive. The cybersecurity challenges that industrial companies and infrastructure organizations face span the IT-OT-IoT spectrum. The industries that need such support are also expanding as more attention is being paid to building automation systems and Smart Cities.

Industrial Cybersecurity Needs a New, Broader Scope

This presentation will include a discussion of the expanded challenges and gaps that need to be filled in standards and guidance needed.
