Manufacturers are increasingly seeking to collapse the gap between design and production, enabling engineers to make smarter decisions earlier in the lifecycle. This broader industry shift is reflected in the strategic partnership between Siemens and Xometry, marking a significant step in advancing AI-powered design-to-source intelligence across the industrial digital thread. The collaboration, supported by a $50 million minority investment in Xometry, aims to tightly integrate manufacturability, pricing, sourcing, and execution insights directly into Siemens’ Xcelerator portfolio.

By embedding real-world manufacturing intelligence into design environments, Siemens and Xometry are targeting a longstanding inefficiency - late-stage design iterations driven by cost, sourcing, or manufacturability constraints.

The integration will embed Xometry’s AI-native marketplace intelligence into Siemens’ Designcenter software, allowing engineers to access real-time manufacturability feedback alongside dynamic pricing insights. In addition, users will be able to evaluate supplier availability and sourcing options while also gaining visibility into production feasibility and execution data. Together, these capabilities create a closed-loop “design-to-source” digital thread, where decisions made during design are continuously informed by downstream production realities.

The partnership builds on Siemens’ existing Supplyframe platform, which provides deep design-to-source intelligence for electronic components. With the addition of Xometry’s capabilities, Siemens is extending this model beyond electronics to include both standard mechanical parts and custom-manufactured components.

At the same time, the integration of Thomas, Xometry’s North American industrial sourcing network, with Supplyframe further enhances Siemens’ ability to deliver comprehensive bill-of-materials (BOM) sourcing intelligence. This combined approach spans both electronic and mechanical domains, positioning Siemens to provide a more holistic supply chain intelligence layer embedded directly within engineering workflows.

A central theme of this announcement is the growing role of AI in transforming industrial software. Xometry’s platform, which has been trained on millions of part designs, supplier interactions, and production outcomes, provides a level of real-world execution intelligence that is difficult to replicate.
By embedding this intelligence into Siemens’ digital twin and design environment, the partnership enables predictive manufacturability assessments, supports data-driven supplier selection, and allows continuous learning based on actual production outcomes. This convergence of design, AI, and marketplace data represents a significant step toward execution-aware engineering.

For ARC, the Siemens–Xometry partnership signals a decisive move toward fully integrated, AI-enabled design-to-source workflows. By embedding pricing, sourcing, and manufacturability intelligence directly into the design process, Siemens is helping customers accelerate innovation while reducing risk and cost.
As industrial companies face increasing pressure to improve speed, resilience, and efficiency, solutions that tightly connect design intent with execution reality will become increasingly critical.
