GE Vernova and Alteia SAS announced that GE Vernova has agreed to acquire Alteia SAS, a France-based software company specializing in AI computer vision and machine learning. The acquisition will result in enhancing GE Vernova’s AI capabilities and providing utilities with visual data solutions that help to support more informed and timely decisions in grid operations.
Helps to reduce the probability of catastrophic events and enhance resiliency to rebuild and restore the grid.
Supports efforts to further strengthen operational systems with visual data and AI to deliver added situational intelligence and actionable insights.
GE Vernova’s GridOS® portfolio, within its Electrification Software business, is designed to help utilities proactively plan for and operate the electric grid during disruptive events, such as storms and wildfires. GE Vernova currently offers Alteia’s software through its GridOS® Visual Intelligence solution, which uses visual data and AI-enabled workflows to help utilities assess damage, identify vegetation management needs, and inspect key assets across long stretches of electrical infrastructure.
Following the acquisition, GridOS Visual Intelligence will more deeply integrate visual data with operational data from systems, such as Advanced Distribution Management Software. This integration is designed to help support faster, more accurate decision-making. Continued development of AI workflows is expected to help utilities improve damage assessments, strengthen situational awareness, and speed up recovery efforts.
The acquisition is expected to close on August 1, 2025; financial terms were not disclosed.
GE Vernova’s GridOS portfolio, including Visual Intelligence, plays a role in helping utilities prepare for grid disruptions and manage infrastructure more effectively. By integrating Alteia’s capabilities, GE Vernova aims to improve how utilities visualize and respond to real-time conditions across the grid.
