Client and Project Details: The client wanted to set up a greenfield personal care products facility in India for a leading Europe-based personal care products manufacturer. Greenfield projects are both a challenge and 
opportunity for engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) services providers. LTTS (L&T Technology Services) was chosen to provide end-to-end EPCM project execution from concept to commissioning. As this was the client’s first project in India, LTTS had to shoulder all the execution responsibilities, including master planning/site preparation and getting the statutory authority approval. After extensively studying options in states across India, LTTS helped the client in identifying the right location for the plant.
The built up area of the site: Phase 1 -12,500 square meters and Phase 2 - 13,500 square meters. The overall scope in both the phases included:
- Concept, preliminary, detailed design
- Procurement support
- Construction management
What LTTS Enabled: The greenfield project for manufacturing of personal care products, included the following facilities and infrastructure:
- Process plant
- 12 packaging lines
- Utility system (electricity, steam, air compressor, generator, etc.)
- Building (manufacturing plant and other amenities)
- Site infrastructure (compound, roads, drains, etc.)
Business Benefits: LTTS’ EPCM services benefited the client in numerous ways. By helping the client set up their first manufacturing facility in India, imports were reduced, and more affordable products were available to Indian consumers. The plant received IGBC Platinum Rating for site selection and planning, water consumption, energy efficiency, innovation, development and design. More value-add:
