AI is transforming industrial operations with predictive maintenance, intelligent automation, and engineering design optimization. In a recent ARC Advisory Group podcast, Saurabh Sasidharan and Rajkumar Paira spoke with Pawan Rallabandi, Head of Digital and Advanced Technologies at Tata Consulting Engineers (TCE), about how AI and GenAI are helping companies minimize downtime, detect anomalies, and speed up deliverables.
Pawan shared how models like YOLO, GPT-4, and LLMs are supporting diagnostics and decision-making on the shop floor, while GenAI is now generating engineering outputs like P&IDs and material lists in days instead of weeks. He also highlighted key challenges—such as compute demands, data integration, and cybersecurity—and stressed the need for strong infrastructure, governance, and workforce upskilling as AI adoption deepens across industry.
