The new MCDU-45 and MCDU-55 units expand Motivair by Schneider Electric’s liquid cooling portfolio with additional deployment options for high-density computing environments.
Motivair by Schneider Electric introduced two new Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs) designed to help address the increasing thermal demands associated with high-performance computing and AI workloads. The new models, MCDU-45 and MCDU-55, are the company’s first purpose-built CDUs designed to be optimized for installation in utility corridors, expanding deployment flexibility across a wider range of data center configurations.
The new CDUs are designed to support higher cooling capacities and broader operating conditions, helping to enable operators to use a wider range of chilled water temperatures to better optimize system efficiency and operations. With these additions, Motivair by Schneider Electric has expanded its liquid cooling portfolio to include a broader range of floor-mounted CDUs and in-rack units to further support hyperscale, AI, colocation, edge, and retrofit environments.
The MCDU-45 and MCDU-55 are available globally, with production ramp-up planned for early 2026.
Key Capabilities of the MCDU-45 and MCDU-55
The new CDUs are designed to more closely reflect evolving liquid cooling requirements as compute densities increase, and infrastructure deployments extend beyond traditional environments. A broader range of CDU deployment options help to enable operators to better tailor cooling strategies based on infrastructure design, workload requirements, and operational constraints. Key capabilities include:
Space Optimization and Deployment Flexibility: A wider selection of CDU configurations supports placement in utility corridors and other expanded infrastructure deployments.
Energy Efficiency: Wider operating ranges support improved heat rejection strategies and reduced power usage effectiveness.
Simplified Maintenance Access: Flexible CDU placement helps to enable service access without disrupting IT operations or AI workloads.
Chiller Plant Integration: The full CDU portfolio, including MCDU-25 through MCDU-60 models, supports more precise flow control, real-time monitoring, and adaptive load balancing to better optimize thermal performance and energy consumption.
The release represents the first new CDU products introduced since Schneider Electric acquired Motivair in February 2025. The expanded CDU range is designed to help address the growing demand for scalable liquid cooling solutions driven by the increasing adoption of AI and high-density computing across data center environments.
The new CDU models are part of Motivair by Schneider Electric’s broader liquid cooling portfolio supporting high-density computing applications where thermal efficiency, operational reliability, and scalability are critical.
