PETRONAS Partners with Honeywell on Sustainability Initiatives

PETRONAS has announced a collaboration with Honeywell on the development of carbon-neutral energy solutions in process technologies, industrial automation, and plant digitalization of the Malaysian national oil company’s operations. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two companies was signed on Sustainability Initiatives22 March on the sidelines of the Offshore Technology Conference Asia 2022 (OTC Asia 2022).

The collaboration, which aims to strengthen operations optimization and support emissions reduction efforts to deliver cleaner energy solutions, supports of the two companies’ common sustainability goals and is in line with PETRONAS’ Net Zero Carbon Emissions by 2050 (NZCE 2050) aspiration.

The sustainable solutions to be embraced include Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCS) technology, Digital Twin, and Remote Autonomous Operations, with the aim being to achieve productivity excellence and strategic growth in a low-carbon manner.

According to PETRONAS Senior Vice President of Project Delivery & Technology, Bacho Pilong, the partnership will be a catalyst for PETRONAS’ growth agenda, inspiring more collaborations among industry and technology players to collectively deliver a carbon-neutral future through a flourishing ecosystem of innovation.

Meanwhile, commenting on the partnership, Honeywell President of ASEAN, Norman Gilsdorf, said Honeywell is looking forward to collaborating with and assisting PETRONAS with integrating digitalization and sustainability and taking it to the next level.
