PTC introduced Windchill AI Assistant, an artificial intelligence capability embedded within its Windchill product lifecycle management (PLM) platform. The assistant is designed to help users access, interpret, and work with product data more efficiently by enabling natural language queries through an integrated chat interface.
As product data volumes and complexity increase, engineering and manufacturing teams often face challenges in locating relevant information across extensive documentation. Windchill AI Assistant helps to address this by allowing users to ask questions in plain language and receive contextual responses or summaries based on existing Windchill data. This approach helps to enable faster access to insights from engineering tests, reviews, and technical documentation that may otherwise be more difficult to retrieve using traditional navigation or reporting tools.
The capability operates directly within the Windchill environment and references source documents in its responses, supporting traceability while maintaining existing security and access control policies. It is deployed as a plugin, allowing organizations to adopt the functionality without significant disruption to current workflows.
